1993 yılının sonunda Rwanda’daki Birleşmiş Milletler Barış Gücü’nün başına atanan Romeo Dallaire, kendini kaosun eşiğindeki bir ülkede bulur. Atanmasından kısa bir süre sonra soykırım başlar ama Dallaire’in görevine son verilir ve geri çağrılır. Kendisine ihtiyacı olan bir ülkeye sırt çevirmeyi vicdanına yediremeyen Dallaire, emirlerine rağmen Rwanda’dan ayrılmayı reddedecektir. Az sayıda askeri ve çok az mühimmatı olan Dallaire, Birleşmiş Milletler’e yaptığı tüm destek talepleri reddedilince çareyi kendi yöntemlerine baş vurmakta bulacak, ve bu sayede yaklaşık 30,000 masum insanın hayatını kurtaracaktır… |
