Summary, etc Theo Angelopoulos üçlemesinin ilk filmi olan Ağlayan Çayır'da, 1919-1949 arasında yaşanan bir hayat hikayesini anlatılıyor. Eleni, Odessa'da doğmuş fakat savaş döneminde hem annesi hem de babası ölmüştür. Alexis'in ailesi tarafından evlat edinilir ve aile Odessa'dan göç eder. Ağlayan Çayır, yeni bir kasabaya yerleşen aileyle beraber büyümeye başlayan çocukların, özellikle de Eleni'nin hikayesidir. Bir kadının çocukluğundan başlayıp gençliğini, aşık oluşunu, sahip olduğu herşeyi kaybedip yeniden yalnız kalışını anlatıyor.
