Hayatında bir değişiklik yapma vaktinin geldiğini hisseden Dr. Kate Forster (SANDRA BULLOCK) stajını tamamladığı yerel İllinois hastanesinden ayrılarak hasta trafiğinin yoğun olduğu Chicago'da bir hastanede çalışmayı kabul eder. Geride bırakmaktan üzüntü duyduğu tek şey kiralamış olduğu güzel evdir. Kate şehre doğru yola çıkmadan önce evin bir sonraki sakini için posta kutusuna bir not bırakır. Bu notta kendisine gelen mektuplar için yeni adresini bırakır ve kapının üzerindeki gizemli pati izlerinin kendisi taşınırken de orada olduğunu açıklar. Evin yeni kiracısı Alex eve geldiğinde ise hiçbir yerde pati izinden eser yoktur. Kate ve Alex göl evinin posta kutusu aracılığıyla yazışmayı sürdürürken, inanılmaz ve imkansız bir şekilde iki ayrı yılda yaşadıklarını görürler. |
