Texas cowboy Ron Woodroof's free-wheeling life was overturned in 1985 when he was diagnosed as HIV-positive. Shunned and ostracized by many old friends and bereft of government-approved medicines, he decided to take matters in his own hands, tracking down alternative treatments from all over the world by means both legal and illegal. Bypassing the establishment, he joined forces with an unlikely band of renegades and outcasts and established a hugely successful "buyers' club." |

Film, uyuşturucu bağımlısı ve HIV taşıyıcısı Ron Woodroof'un hayatından esinleniyor. Ron Woodroof'a 1986 yılında AIDS yüzünden 30 günlük ömür biçilir. Teşhiş sonrası FDA kurumundan yasal onaylı olarak kullanabileceği tek ilaç olan AZT'yi almaya başlayan Ron hızla ölümün eşiğine doğru sürüklendiğini fark eder. Çareyi ABD'de yasal olmayan ama dünyanın dört bir yanında bulunan, doğal ilaçlara başvurmakta bulur. Kendisiyle ilgilenen doktorlardan biri olan arkadaşı Eve Saks'ın da yardımıyla Ron farkıdna olmadan çevresindeki hastlar içinde bir iletişim ve satış ağı kurmuş olur. "Dallas Buyers Club" olarak bilinen bu oluşum FDA'nın tedavisi yerine alternatif tıbbı tercih edenlerin çaresi olur ve dahası hastalar üzerinde onaylı AZT'den daha çok işe yarar. Fakat durum çok geçmeden fark edilir ve ilaç firmaları ve FDA Ron'a karşı büyük bir savaş açar. Film 30 günlük ömrü kaldı dendikten sonra kendi doğal yöntemleriyle 2191 gün daha yaşamayı balşaran Ron Woodroof'un kişisel mücadelesine odaklanıyor. |
