Güçlü Maymun Kral cennet ve dünya arasında özgürce dolaşabilmektir. Ancak günün birinde tanrıları kızdıran güçlü karakterin güçleri elinden alınır ve Beş Element Dağı’nda bir buz kütlesinin içine hapsedilir. 500 yıl boyunca hapis kalan kralın varlığı artık bir efsaneye dönüşmüştür ve gerçekliğini kaybetmiştir. Küçük Liu ise masaldan oldukça etkilenen küçük bir çocuktur. Bir gün dağ canavarlarının kasabasına saldırması üzerine kasabadan küçük bir kızı da kurtararak kaçmayı başaran Liu tek çareyi Beş Element Dağı'na sığınmakta bulur. Canavarların peşlerine düştüğünü bilen Liu saklanmaya çalışırken Maymun Kral'ın hapis kaldığı yeri bulur ve yanlışlıkla onu serbest bırakır. Tek isteği özgür kalır kalmaz evine – Çiçek ve Meyve Dağı’na - geri dönmek olan Maymun Kral bileğindeki mührün tamamının çözülmemiş olduğunu fark eder. İstemeye istemeye başlayan bu yardımlaşmada doğru motivasyon ve destekle Maymur Kral ve küçük Liu kasabayı kurtarmaya çalışacaklardır...
