Summary, etc Hacı Bektâş-ı Velî'nin Makâlât adlı eseri; varlığı uzun süredir bilinmesine rağmen gereği kadar tanınamamış bir kitaptır. Mâhiyet ve muhtevâsı ya iyi incelenmediği için ya da incelendiği halde anlattığı hususlar kamuoyundan saklanmak istendiğinden üstünkörü geçiştirilmiştir. Halbuki bu eser Hacı Bektâş-ı Velî'nin gerçek kimliğini fikirlerini şahsiyetini yakından ve doğru tanımak bakımından ehemmiyet arz eder. M. Es'ad Coşan Hocaefendi bir dinî edebiyat araştırıcısı olarak kendi zamanına kadar üzerinde yeterince araştırma ve tetkik yapılmadığını düşündüğü Makâlât-ı Hacı Bektaş eserini ele almış ve titizlikle üzerinde durmuştur. Bu konuyu basılmış bilinen ve tekrar tekrar kullanılan kaynaklardan değil; kütüphanelerde gözlerden gizli kalmış el yazması eserler arasında araştırma yapmak suretiyle ele almıştır. Türk-İslâm edebiyatının değişik bir türü olan bu önemli eseri "Sadeleştirilmiş Tam Metin" olarak ilim ve akademi dünyası yanında çok geniş ve yaygın bir kitle oluşturan meraklılarının da istifadesine arz ediyoruz.
