520 _a"It is a known fact that travelogues and historical geography-style works are much less common in Ottoman literary literature than other genres. Among such works, which contain important information about the physical appearance, demographic structure and social and cultural history of settlements such as Ottoman cities, towns and villages, one of the works that has not attracted much attention until now is the 18th century. It is a travelogue called Îmâ-yı Törehât-ı Büldânân, written by Mehmed Hâşim at the end of the century. As its name suggests, this work, which provides information about the customs of Ottoman towns, is an important source for the Ottoman society of the period in which its author lived. Îmâ-yı Törehât-ı Büldânân is based on the information and notes collected by Mehmed Hâşim, who was a member of the scribe group, about his travels during his duties in administrative and military campaigns, as well as his on-site observations and findings. It contains rich information not only in terms of history but also in terms of language, literature, sociology, anthropology, ethnography and geography. In the work, the situation of the people living in Ottoman cities and towns is described, with the unique approach of the observant author. The social structure of each settlement and its religious and social works such as mosques, masjids, churches, monasteries, lodges and zawiyas are pointed out. In particular, many customs, traditions and customs formed around the social structure and lifestyle of various communities and religious and social works are mentioned, and also the crops grown, goods and goods produced in the visited places are given with special names, concepts and concept signs. In addition to all these, while making explanations about cities and towns, similarities and differences with other cities and towns are also pointed out from time to time. This travelogue, which has not attracted much attention from researchers until today, is an important source for research on the history, society and cultural geography of Ottoman towns with its different features."--
