Summary, etc Genel kabul gören bir anlayışa göre büyük yazar olmanın başlıca koşullarından biri dünyaya/insanlara/olaylara farklı bir gözle bakmak ve bu farklı bakışa estetik bir ifade/biçim kazandırmaktır. Kısa öykü de bu türden bir ustalığı sergilemede en elverişli “araçlardan” biridir çünkü fazlalığa/yapaylığa gelmez o, üstelik ince işçilik gerektirir. Elinizdeki kitap hepsi de İngiliz dilinde yazılmış, ama kullandıkları üslup, anıldıkları edebi tür, milliyet ve art alan bakımından değişiklik gösteren yazarların kaleminden çıkma ve de yukarıda belirttiğimiz ölçütü fazlasıyla karşılayan öykülerden oluşuyor, özcesi bizimle konuşan öykülerden… Derlemede yer alan yazarları “hakkıyla” temsil ettiğini düşündüğümüz bu “tipik” öykülerin okurun iç dünyasında izi uzun süre silinmeyecek bir etki yaratacağına inanıyoruz…
